Storytelling : Innovation and Growth is our strategy !

This blog is for you if you, as leader, have these questions running through your mind

1.How can I motivate my team to Innovate?

2.Shall I focus on global business growth or connection with our employees?

Before I start I want to thank my client Uen Li Chia for inspiring this blog.

A couple of months ago I wrote a blog Storytelling Passes the Productivity Test 3 of 10  in which the key message was that “Even minimal, brief contact with beneficiaries can enable employees to maintain their motivation and increase their productivity. In my blog I used  research to back this finding. The next best thing to do would be to share a story that conveys the same point. This is a story of the founder of  Jaipur Rugs ( a carpet company)

Please take note, this video is 7 mins long. If you are time poor, I suggest you revisit this blog when you have the time. Reading this blog without watching the video is pointless.

I am almost certain some of you have objections running through your mind like.

  • This is a consumer business story which is easy to tell.
  • The characters are vulnerable and we do not have such characters in our business
  • We work for a MNC there is no way we can have a story like this

If we set these objections aside and look for commonalities, I am almost certain we can achieve this for any business.

Growth and Innovation is every business’s strategy but what makes you successful is how you go about achieving it. The very first step is-  Do you have a core mission story?

Why the QR Code? The answer is in the request below we received from a regular blog reader.

"I attended your story telling course some time back. And I've enjoyed keeping up my knowledge with your blog. You may not have realised however, that the Whole of Government is implementing Internet Seperation. Hence I'm not able to access the links to read your articles. Could I suggest including a QR code in your emails so that I can use my mobile to scan it and gain immediate access to the article? It would be most helpful"
