I want to be Popular Story

When I was growing up only credible people became popular. And to become popular they had to have done something in life. There was a strong barrier to entry in to the playground called, ‘for popular people only”

Social media changed everything, it now allows people to become popular without having done very much.

Here are some new popularity tactics

Vanity will make you popular

Tell your emotional story and you are on to something

Be funny and the following follows. And that following on social media becomes the benchmark of your popularity. It is easy to collect crowd.

These are effortless tactics to gain popularity, simply because they are available, we want them. Humans default to convenience, even though we never get the true satisfaction from convenience. Whilst it is a convenient shortcut, the signal of ‘popular’ is no longer closely related to ‘good’.

What is popular is not necessarily good. So, the next time you have someone sharing success built on popularity, demonstrate critical thinking and ask, ” Is it good or just popular because they are not the same.”

You may not have realised however, that the Whole of Government is implementing Internet Seperation. Hence I'm not able to access the links to read your articles. Could I suggest including a QR code in your emails so that I can use my mobile to scan it and gain immediate access to the article? It would be most helpful"
